#CovidWedding - Edmonton Ceremony Options during COVID

In this blog I want to share innovative and creative ways venues and vendors are coming together to help YOU to get married in Edmonton and area.

I think it’s very encouraging to anyone who wants to still proceed with a ceremony, or perhaps wants something completely different while still postponing their wedding plans to a time where we can come together closely again.

I want these options to be the best choice for you to decide on so I haven’t listed any pricing or specific details to avoid vendor comparison, but feel free to email me (ourjonrahevents@gmail.com) or send me a message as I do have all the details on hand if you want to proceed with any of them.

My Wedding Rescue Plans are still available to help you get married. Whether its helping you postpone or putting together your intimate ceremony, I can take care of all the details so you just need to show up with your closest and celebrate with your dearest!

Fairmont MacDonald - Intimate Wedding Ceremony/Reception

As one of the most sought after venues in the city, it is a special occurrence that the Fairmont has five different venue spaces for you to hold your ceremony for up to 14 guests. Ceremonies allot for a two hour booking and an option for a reception add on. Choose from the stunning options of the Empire Room, Wedgwood Room, Drawing Room, Jasper Room, Gazebo (gazebo accommodates 10 people), or Gardens.

Foundry Room - Essentials Ceremony Package

Both the Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan have ceremony packages with either on site live streaming (Edmonton) or broadcasting the ceremony in the parking lot (Fort Sask). Foundry Room can also help you with every element of planning given they have in house vendors priced within their packages (ex. photography, florists etc.) if you don’t have existing vendors to work with.

The Pioneers Cabin - Ceremony Package

Well known as The Old Timer’s Cabin, this hidden rustic gem provides a beautiful view of the river valley and is tucked along 99st! With adjacent green space and a newly renovated interior, couples will have plenty of photo opportunities throughout when you book them for their special ceremony package. The Pioneers Cabin also has a preferred vendor list you can work with if you need additional vendors.

The Ellis - Studio Ceremony + Unique Decor Packages

The Ellis is an intimate venue/studio located in St. Albert and is a partnership between two successful photographers, one who also owns Simply Maria Rentals. Put all this together and they have unique decoration and furniture packages (think vintage rugs and love seats!) that can be delivered to you, or get married at The Ellis with everything in one place including professional photo/video options.

Farm Fresh Florals - Garden Elopement

Super fresh and new on the scene, Farm Fresh Florals is providing garden elopements with a backup indoor greenhouse option. Located in Leduc County, they are not a far option if you want to wed outdoors with nature all around you while having a mini escape from the city!

The Enjoy Centre - Greenhouse Elopement

This spectacular greenhouse and wedding venue is grand and amazing for large weddings and events, but if you want to be surrounded by plants and glass windows all around, they have an elopement package inclusive of their living arch, a signing table, and chairs for you to get married in. The photos in this space are absolutely breath taking!

Obsidian Ridge - Outdoor Amphitheater Ceremony

Southwest of Edmonton lies a retreat like wedding escape! Welcome Obsidian, where acres of land are being transformed into a sought after luxurious wedding destination. Their amphitheater is surrounded by water fountains, flowering trees, and “500 ton of mountain” resembling the ambiance of the Rockies. Imagine saying I do at their timber frame, open-air alter!

Hillside Acres - Pond Ceremony

Getaway to Camrose and elope with three full service options to have your ceremony in front of a pond inclusive of an arch, PA system, bench seating for guests, and extraordinary additions such as getting ready in their “Something Blue” bridal suite! They also have “Something Borrowed” decor options for you to choose from.

Decor & Florals

Knotwood Event Rentals - Ceremony Decor/Furniture Packages

If you are hosting your own backyard ceremony, Knotwood is the next best decision! From rustic, to boho, to elegant, they have all kinds of decor and furniture seating for you to elevate your wedding ceremony. Their packages include all setup/take down and delivery services within a safe distance- think lounge seating, rugs, arches, welcome signs, vases + candles; their packages are also highly customizable!

Party & Confetti - Balloon Party To Go/Outdoor Balloon Installations

Balloons definitely means there’s a celebration and Party & Confetti is now offering a fun to go option that can be customizable to your style and colours - a great way to dress up your dessert table. The outdoor balloon installation can be up to 9ft and is a creative photo opp for a drive-by receiving line or staggered guest visits at your doorstep.

A number of florists are still available including:

Two Buds Floral - offering curbside pick ups for your orders

Best Buds - free delivery with $75 bouquet purchase

Cerise Floral Studio - offering schedule curbside pick ups and delivery

Filming & Sound

Talent Productions - has three package options for you to choose from including a full service option inclusive of a DJ, live streaming, and mic or a DIY option they will setup for you. On top of that, they will include up to 15 chivari chairs!

Photographers are allowed to resume their services as long as social distancing is followed. If your existing wedding photographer has postponed or you want to have a new style for your elopement ceremony, this is a great time to connect with a photographer that may have been out of your budget. Given that the 2020 wedding season is looking quite different than usual, it may be worth your investment to have the talent you want for a couple of hours to document your ceremony.

Virtual Photobooth

Bash Factory - created an innovative platform to offer a virtual photobooth for you and your guests to use. A custom template will be created for you and guests can take a photo, GIF, or boomerang. Photos will be featured on a micro site and can be shared on social media as well. A great solution for social distancing!

Hair & Makeup

As per the most recent government updates (April 30, 2020), hair services fall under “Stage 1,” while beauty services fall under “Stage 2” of Alberta’s relaunch strategy for the economy. Thus, hair services can resume as early as May 14, but makeup services are still pending. Some brides have done their own hair/makeup for elopements that have already happened, but depending on the date of your wedding, this may change. I would suggest connecting with your existing HMUA to get the best answers at this time.

Mercer’s Catering - operating as usual, from curbside pick up to delivery to your household. They have delicious appetizer packages if you’re looking to have options post-ceremony for those present.

A Cappella Catering - browse their wonderful take and bake options that you can order to the comfort of your home and reheat. A chef curated hot meal for whenever you feel like it- great for families!

Culina To Go - offering delivery and pickup from the Oliver Exchange Building. A great option if you want a scrumptious meal to celebrate your marriage together. They can provide servings from their signature roasting pots for you to eat from!

I will continue to add to this list as I learn of more fitting services. Feel free to email if you like to be added (ourjonrahevents@gmail.com) and are providing service options for weddings affected by COVID-19.

Thankful to be a part of this amazing wedding community.
